The Production of Real Time

The production and measurement of time is the most developed and precise science nowadays (science of timekeeping). Today we can measure every attosecond (0,0000000000000000001s) and the agencies involved on this process are multiple: the International Bureau of Weights and Measures (BIPM), the Consultative Committee for the Definition of the Second (CCDS), the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the General Conference of Weights and Measures (CIPM) or the International Committee of Weights and Measures (CGPM). The politics of synchronization and syntonization entangled around this institutions and their consequences on our connectivity, communication and location systems, need of critical lecture to discern whether this production is affecting the way we live or it is an unintended machinery. Without this technologies we would not have worldwide web, GPS tracking, satellite images or mobile phone communication.
